Walking tours in Prague’s Old Town offer visitors a unique way to explore the historical and cultural heart of the city. With its stunning architecture, cobblestone streets, and rich history, Old Town is a must-see for anyone visiting Prague. These tours provide an immersive experience that allows both locals and tourists to appreciate the city from a different perspective.

The Old Town Square, with its iconic Astronomical Clock and Týn Church, serves as the focal point for many walking tours. Guides often share fascinating stories about the city’s past and its architectural treasures, providing context and depth that you might not get from a guidebook. As you wander through the narrow streets, you’ll encounter various historical landmarks, each with a story waiting to be told.

During peak tourist seasons, these walking tours can be a fantastic way to meet fellow travelers and share experiences. Many tours also offer group discounts, making them an economical choice for families or larger groups. The tours can range from general history walks to specialized themes, such as Jewish heritage or ghost tours, catering to a wide array of interests.

In addition to the main attractions, many walking tours give you the chance to discover hidden gems, like quaint cafés, local artisan shops, and smaller squares that are off the beaten path. This exploration of less-traveled areas can provide a richer experience, allowing for more interaction with the local culture.

Most walking tours last around two to three hours, making it easy to fit one into your day. Many companies offer both private and group options, with slots available in multiple languages. Early bookings are recommended, especially during the summer months when tourist numbers peak.

Current trends indicate that travelers are increasingly seeking authentic experiences, which walking tours provide. As the tourism sector continues to recover, these tours remain popular among visitors looking to enrich their understanding of Prague’s history and culture.

For those considering a walking tour, it’s helpful to wear comfortable shoes or women’s or men’s sneakers and carry a water bottle, as you’ll likely be covering a fair amount of ground. Be prepared for changes in weather and plan accordingly, as tours typically proceed rain or shine.

What is the best time to take a walking tour in Prague’s Old Town?

The best time is generally from April to October, when the weather is pleasant and outdoor activities are enjoyable.

How long do walking tours typically last?

Most walking tours last between two to three hours, providing ample time to see key sights and learn about their histories.

Are walking tours suitable for families?

Yes, many walking tours are family-friendly and can accommodate children, making them a great way to explore the city together.

The challenge: embark on a comic walk around Brussels with this informative guide + map

There is probably no other city in the world that has as many comic book stores as Brussels. There is also hardly any other city where comic book characters have escaped the pages and scattered themselves around the facades of the buildings in the city center like they do here.

Lift your head up, keeping your hat in your hand, and enjoy Brussels in comics.

The love affair between Brussels and comic books has a long history. The city’s two most famous magazines – Tintin and Spirou – sprang up in the beginning of the 20th century. Some of the most beloved comic books of several generations were created here: The Smurfs, Lucky Luke, Tintin, Gaston Lagaffe…

Brussels, of course, has a comic book museum – the Belgian Comic Strip Centre, where you can learn useful and interesting information. But it is much more inspiring to just walk down the streets of the Belgian capital and get acquainted with your favorite characters in person.

The murals are so well integrated into Brussels’ architecture that you might not even notice them.

Apart from the graffiti on the walls, comic book characters are revived here in 3D form, too. A prime example is the statue of comic book hero Gaston Lagaffe on Pacheco Boulevard.

You can join some of the paid guided bike tours and walks along the comic strip route, but probably the best way to immerse yourself in comic culture is to start your own journey with a map in your hand (a perfect map is available in the bottom of this page) and enjoy your treasure hunt.

To complete a real themed day, finish at the Comic Strip Village (Stripdorp/Le Village de la BD, situated at Sablon Square) in the center of Brussels. Here you’ll find a gallery, a comic book store and a café, where you can have a rest surrounded by colorful comic strips.

You can buy a comic map from any Brussels Tourism Office (costs 1 euro), or alternatively you can take the route provided on this map below:

Pin it for later because you’re gonna need this map and it will get buried in the tons of information online:

What is the plan for today? Yellowstone? Grand Canyon? Or maybe the climbing of Australia’s highest peak? A “walk” by the ocean in Australia? In recent years everybody has the opportunity to travel virtually around the wider world without leaving home. You can walk virtually not only in some of the world’s most famous museums and galleries but also in nature. National parks in several countries are partnering with Google to offer armchair walks. All you need is a device with an internet connection. And if you insist to have a more realistic environment, put on your hiking boots and throw your backpack. Or just drink your coffee in your favourite jar.

National parks in the USA

Most of the US National Parks do not need to be introduced, but there are some that you are yet to discover.
